Fall Events! & WOW! Summer went by too fast . . .

The Flute Fest was a huge success despite the flooding in our auditorium at the Village Music Academy! I was so thankful that everyone who participated was able to find my house and rehearse. We had such a fun time. And I was very thankful especially to my colleagues who played with me and generally helped out. So many students came to play and I got to meet so many new people too. AND - we all love to play our flutes!

This Fall has been extremely busy with teaching at MNU and students, playing a concert with the St. Joseph Symphony, and teaching a clinic for flute kids making recordings for the Kansas Sousa Honor Band on September 30! Wow! It felt like summer here in Kansas still throughout September!

Now there are TWO upcoming events that should be FUN!

The first event is through MNU, as we are hosting our annual masterclass for Kansas High School Students who are preparing to audition for District Honor Band. That event is scheduled at MNU, Bell Cultural Arts Center for Sunday, October 21, 2018 @ 3pm. Registration is $8: www.mnu.edu/events/student-performances-bell-center/kansas-district-audition-masterclass

The masterclass will find us practicing our audition skills behind a screen and of course, there will be drawings for some prizes!

The second event sponsored by Judi’s Woodwind Shop at her flute party in Overland Park! Judi’s flute party is November 9, 10, & 11 at The Marriott Residence Inn 12010 Blue Valley Parkway, OP, KS 66213. George Pope will be giving a masterclass on Sunday, November 11 @ 1pm in the same location. It is free to the public, and an Altus Flutes Representative will be there with flutes to try. George Pope is known to be a wonderful performer and teacher. He was just honored with the 2018 Distinguished Service Award at National Flute Association Convention in Florida this past August.

So - more fun flute stuff!
